Time Spent (Hours)
I built this a while ago but am just now posting. I don’t recall or have all the details anymore, but it was my first (and so far only) RG kit. Back when I first started building, RG kits were not even a thing. I found about them in the past year or two and thought I would give them a try, so I bought a few.
I remember when building this one I was not impressed with RG. The problem was the parts were so small, I got frustrated. I’m also not a huge fan of the 1/144 size anymore after spending most of my time on 1/100 now. They feel small.
With that said, after just finishing up another MG and then taking photos of both the MG and this RG at the same time, I like the RG a lot more than I used to. It’s still a 1/144 and smaller, yes. However, the level of detail, features, and everything is actually very good. I would say it’s better than the MG Wind Gundam Ver Ka on that front. I guess while they are frustrating to build due to complex small parts, you just need time to recover before enjoying the kit.
This is mostly OOB build. I did not paint the kit, but I did add panel lining and a top coat.
- RG kits are really frustrating and challenging to build. They have a number of small and complex parts due to being really detailed but also 1/144 in size.
- RG kit detail is actually really nice. After waiting half a year or more after building and then revisiting the kit, I like it a lot more and appreciate all the detail and features in it more than when I built it. If you are frustrated with an RG, give it time and come back to it. I will likely try another RG kit since I have a few more, and hopefully I will enjoy the build process more on them.
